The state rural development department has directed all the district collectors to speed up the work of setting up quality test lab that will check the quality of work undertaken by the department in each district.

Rural development and panchayati raj minister Rajendra Rathore had ordered for setting up a quality test lab at Zila Parishad or Panchayat Samiti level in each district by October 16. More than 15 central and state schemes such as the MNREGS, MP and MLA local area development programmes are run by the department.
“According to the information received till date, only four districts – Nagaur, Kota, Hanumangarh (Tibbi) and Jhunjhunu (Alsisar) — have set up the laboratory. In 10 districts – Alwar, Baran, Bharatpur, Bundi, Karauli, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Tonk, Sikar and Udaipur — the process of setting up the lab is in process. In remaining districts, no action has been initiated, which is unfortunate,” said Rohit Kumar, the department secretary in a letter sent to the district collectors.
Citing that the minister had expressed his dissatisfaction in the matter in a meeting held on October 25, Kumar asked the district collectors to set up the labs by November 15.
