A nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a minor boy during a birthday party of his sister in a west Udaipur locality in May 2014. The case was lodged on May 27 at Ghantaghar police station and the accused was sent to juvenile custody thereafter.

However, he was granted bail by the juvenile court on June 16, 2014. He has turned 19 now. And since then, he has allegedly been teasing and threatening the girl in public, Udaipur (west) deputy superintendent of police Gopal Singh Bhati said, quoting the complaint lodged by the victim’s father on February 28. Bhati assured necessary action against the accused. He said the police had already requested the additional district magistrate (ADM) to issue a necessary direction in this regard.

She had narrated the whole incident in the juvenile court and said that she was attacked at the home of the accused when she was wearing a dress for his sister’s birthday.

Social activists demanded his re-arrest as he continued to be a threat to the girl as she told the police that she was very scared of the accused. Bharat Joshi, an advocate who is also president of the Udaipur Bar Association, said the boy could be booked under Section 122 of the CrPC for threatening the girl.
