A 19-year-old student was stabbed to death by two youngsters following spat over overtaking his motorcycle, police said.

Sandeep Kapoor (19), a resident of Shivpura neighbourhood of the city, was standing near the Beejasan temple in Dadabari late on Tuesday, when two youngsters, Shubham Tiwari and Aakash Suman on a motorcycle, tried to overtake Kapoor’s bike at a high speed, which led to an altercation, police said.

The duo stabbed Kapoor in the chest and head and fled the spot, said city deputy superintendent of police Rajesh Meshram.

Local residents rushed a critically injured Kapoor to a hospital where he was declared brought dead, he said.

Police have detained the accused and questioning them, he said, adding that following a complaint by Kapoor’s elder brother, Raju, police have registered a case of murder against the accused.
