BJP chief Amit Shah will chair a meeting of Rajasthan BJP leaders in New Delhi on Wednesday. The name of the new state BJP president is also likely to be announced after the meeting that will be attended by chief minister Vasundhara Raje apart from senior party leaders and some state ministers, sources said.
“The Rajasthan BJP core committee members and some other leaders will be part of the meeting. Discussions will focus on preparations for the Assembly as well as Lok Sabha elections,” a BJP leader said. Raje reached Delhi on Tuesday afternoon and other leaders too were expected to reach by Wednesday morning.
BJP national general secretary Bhupendra Yadav, BJP national joint general secretary V Satish, BJP national vice-president Om Mathur, Rajasthan party in-charge Avinash Rai Khanna, party’s organisation secretary in Rajasthan Chandrashekhar and former state BJP president Ashok Parnami will be attending the meeting among others.
The state BJP has been headless for nearly two months due to a tussle between Raje and Shah over the appointment. Sources said that instead of Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, some consensus candidate could be appointed as the next Rajasthan BJP president.
Parnami had put in his papers on April 16 in what was being seen as an attempt by Shah to bring changes to the Rajasthan unit and make it battle ready for the Assembly elections. However, disagreement between Shah and Raje over the replacement has not only created an unprecedented situation but also affected the party’s poll preparations.

{{/usCountry}}Shah addressed a meeting of BJP workers from the Jaipur Rural Lok Sabha constituency last Friday where he focused on the achievements of the Narendra Modi government and asked the workers to ensure that the “victory chariot” continues to roll in Rajasthan. However, Shah had not mentioned any achievements of the Raje government.
The central leaders had also carried out an internal assessment after the by-poll rout that has shown that the voters are upset with the Raje government’s performance.
