Rizwan case: CBI interrogates police officers

Two Kolkata police officers, who had allegedly threatened Rizwanur Rehman, were on Tuesday interrogated by CBI.

Two of the four Kolkata police officers, who had allegedly threatened computer graphics designer Rizwanur Rehman to part with his wife Priyanka before his mysterious death on September 21, were on Tuesday interrogated by CBI.

Sukanti Chakraborty, former Assistant Commissioner of the Anti-Rowdy Section of the Detective Department of Kolkata Police and Krishnendu Das, a former sub-inspector of the same section were interrogated at the CBI's temporary office at Nizam Palace, CBI sources said.

Chakraborty has been transferred to Special Branch and Krishnendu to Security Control.

Two other officers, Deputy Commissioners Gyanwant Singh and Ajay Kumar, who had allegedly threatened Rizwanur, would also be called for questioning soon, the sources said.

"They will have to be given notice and for that we have spoken to the concerned authority. They will be summoned soon," a source said.

On Monday, two sub-inspectors, Pulok Dutta and Jayanto Mukherjee, officer-in-charge Swapan Kumar Mitra of Karaya police station and officer-in-charge of Entally police station Pradip Dam were interrogated.

Rizwanur and Priyanka, whose family was against the marriage, were called to the Kolkata Police headquarters at Lalbazar on September 1, 4 and 8 and were allegedly threatened by the four police officers.
