India is ready to roll out some royal treatment. Prince Charles of Wales, and wife Camilla Parker Bowles landed in the country on Wednesday, starting their multiple-city tour of India from Uttarakhand.

While many look towards Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton for style inspiration, Indian fashion designers say that they’d love to see Charles and Camilla don something traditional when in India. “Ethnicwear is a superb way to celebrate the Indian heritage, and I’d love them to experience the country through the clothes they choose to wear,” says designer Manish Malhotra.

When it comes to Camilla, city-based designers pick flowing kurtas over saris. “I’d love to see her in loose A-line kurtas, Indian style wide-legged pants with short shirts and kurti tops with flared skirts. Charles would look great in bandhgala and Jodhpuris,” says designer Rina Dhaka. Namrata Joshipura agrees, “A long flowing kurta in pastel hues over a sari anyday for Camilla. For Charles, a long sherwani would look nice.” Designers Falguni and Shane Peacock’s pick for Camilla would be “a champagne knee-length tunic with salwar.”
