Lady Gaga recently took to her social media profiles and shared the first ever images of herself as Patrizia Reggiani, Maurizio Gucci’s ex-wife, in the upcoming movie House of Gucci which is about the former Gucci head's assassination. The A Star Is Born actor took to Instagram and Twitter and shared images of herself along with co-star Adam Driver, who is portraying Maurizio Gucci, as they huddled together against snow topped mountains in the Italian Alps. Gaga went for a black turtleneck sweater, black pants and a white fur Cossack hat, sporting short, dark hair and stacks of gold chains around her neck and huge gold studs in her ears. She sported minimal make-up as Patrizia, while Driver wore an off white knit sweater, white pants and had a white jacket secured around his waist. He also sported huge black glasses and a simple, neat hairdo for his portrayal as the late fashion mogul. Gaga captioned the post, "Signore e Signora Gucci," which translates to Mr. and Mrs. Gucci.
Both Gaga and Driver are Oscar-nominated actors and this is the first time the duo will be seen together on screen. House of Gucci is based on Sara Gay Forden's popular book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed, and is directed by Ridley Scott. It is the true story of how the Gucci fashion family dynasty finally met its downfall. It follows the story of the couple, and finally culminating with Patrizia hiring a hitman to kill her husband in 1995.
The book and subsequent feature film are based on the Gucci couple's story which starts with Maurizio and Patrizia marrying in 1973, and after 12 years of marriage, in May 1985, the businessman left his wife for a younger woman. The Gucci couple's divorce was finalised in 1991. But in 1995, Maurizio was shot and killed by a hitman Patrizia hired on the steps outside his office in Milan. Patrizia was convicted of arranging her husband's murder in 1998 and sentenced to 29 years in prison. However, daughters Alessandra and Allegra asked that their mother's conviction be overturned, claiming her brain tumour had affected her ability to reason. The two were successful and in 2000 an appeals court in Italy reduced Patrizia's sentence to 26 years. She was released in October 2016 after serving 18 years in prison due to good behaviour.
