Lok Sabha Elections 2019: The Haryana poll body has issued directions to all political parties to refrain from violating the poll code and remove all kinds of unauthorised political advertisements put up at public places within 48 hours.

The election commission (EC) has issued directions to remove all wall writing, posters, banners and hoardings in government offices or campuses which show government achievements in view of the model code of conduct being in place for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Haryana joint chief electoral officer Inder Jeet said.

He said the election commission has issued directions to all political parties to refrain from violating the poll code and remove all kinds of unauthorised political advertisements put up at public places such as bus stands, airports, railway stations, railway bridges, government buses, electric or telephone poles, within 48 hours.

“Apart from this, unauthorised political advertisements displayed at private property should be removed within 72 hours,” he said.

As per the model code of conduct , ministers cannot combine their official visit with electioneering work and also cannot make use of the official machinery during electioneering work, he said.

Deputy commissioner Ashok Kumar Meena said, “The stipulated time for removing advertisements from government buildings is 48 hours after the poll code comes into force while for private buildings, it is 72 hours. We have initiated the process and won’t let anyone breach the code of conduct.”
