Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Mohite-Patils’ Akluj show of force aims at NCP snub

Ranjitsinh will contest polls on BJP ticket; his father, Vijaysinh Mohite-Patil, is the sitting NCP MP from Madha

The Mohite-Patils as a political family did not hold enough of power in the eyes of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and have been left out of their plans to contest the Lok Sabha elections in 2019.

That alleged fact is what has driven much disdain among the substantial support the Mohite Patil clan claims to have; proof of which was on show in Akluj on Tuesday, as Ranjitsinh Mohite-Patil announced he will be joining the BJP.

His father, Vijaysinh Mohite-Patil, is the sitting NCP MP from Madha.

Mohite-Patil asked the party to give his son Ranjitsinh the ticket from Madha and when that was denied, the BJP move followed, sources close to the family requesting anonymity, said.

Ranjitsinh is believed to have met BJP leader Girish Mahajan in Mumbai last week itself to set-up the transition.

At the Tuesday meeting in Akluj, the home of the MohitePatils, Sharad Pawar giving a chance to his grand nephew Parth to contest from Maval, but ignoring Ranjitsinh was the murmur of choice among the hundreds gathered.
