He made the promise after inaugurating 14 newly-constructed substations of varying capacities at a function organized at North Central Zone Cultural Center (NCZCC) here.

The substations, with capacities of 400 KV, 132 KV and 33 KV, were constructed at a cost of Rs 936 crore.

The CM said when he took over his new responsibility it was a challenge to address the power issue in the state.

“Efforts to improve the power scenario would not be done in select districts but in all districts of UP. In Banda, Chitrakoot and surrounding districts electricity was a real problem, especially low voltage issue in rural areas, but now the situation has improved and by 2018, 24x7 power supply would become a reality in the state,” he said.

He sought public support for the government’s efforts to make cashless billing a reality. “UP will have prepaid meters soon which could be recharged online. The Prime Minister has laid stress on cashless transactions and UP government is following the same. This will curb bribe in power billing system,” he said.
