Adani group to invest in state for CNG supply

The Adani group is going to invest in Uttar Pradesh, through its joint venture company that it co-owns with Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), for providing compressed natural gas in Allahabad.

The Adani group is going to invest in Uttar Pradesh, through its joint venture company that it co-owns with Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), for providing compressed natural gas in Allahabad. A memorandum of understanding was signed between IOC and Indian Oil Adani Gas Private Limited (IOAGPL) in Lucknow on Wednesday for supplying CNG at select retail outlets in Allahabad. Subrata Barma, general manager (Gas) PP Bora, DGM UP and Rajiv Sharma, director, IOAGPL were present on the occasion.

IOAGPL, co-owned by IOC and Adani, would lay a pipeline from Phoolpur to Allahabad and then to the selected petrol pumps where the CNG outlets would be set up.

In future, direct CNG supplies may also be made to industries and big commercial consumers.

He said that the joint venture would be beneficial for the people of the state who would soon get the eco-friendly gas in their cities once the initiative was expanded.

He said after starting the CNG facility, the joint company would go for piped natural gas (PNG) connections in Allahabad.

It is pertinent to mention here that Allahabad has been selected as one of the smart cities. After that, the centre decided to come up with piped gas and CNG supply in Allahabad.

UP Singh said that besides being an environment-friendly fuel, CNG would add to the development of Allahabad city.
