Digvijay wants probe into Gadkari's assets

Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh on Monday ordered a probe into Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari's assets and wondered how a man who drove a moped now had property worth thousands of crores of rupees.

“He (Gadkari) today possesses property worth thousands of crores of rupees… How does he own such property? It should definitely be probed by the Enforcement Directorate or the Revenue Intelligence," Singh told reporters at the Amausi airport in Lucknow.

“It should be known to all how a man who had a Luna (moped) today has huge assets… An extensive probe is required to know the cost of the property he acquired in the last 20 years."

The comments come a day after Gadkari alleged at a rally on the outskirts of the national capital that the nephew of a real estate major involved in the Commonwealth Games scam was an aide of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi.

Gadkari also sought a reply from Congress president Sonia Gandhi on the matter.
