Akhilesh, who was in Auraiyya, was reacting to the Yogi Aditynath government’s decision to trim the fleet of government vehicles that former chief ministers were entitled to.

The former chief minister termed the recovery of an explosive powder in the Vidhan Sabha as a “serious security lapse”.

“Since the explosive was found in the area in which the SP members sit, the government must provide security to opposition members,” he said, talking to reporters.

Akhilesh was at Itauli village for a feast hosted by former minister Vinod Yadav.

The SP chief also said the law and order situation had worsened in the state.

Meanwhile, the ‘rath’ (campaign chariot) that broke down at the start of the party’s 2017 assembly poll campaign, developed a snag once again, this time in Etawah. The Mercedes bus reportedly developed a snag near Tirwa (Kannauj). Akhilesh covered the rest of the route in his SUV. The bus, named the ‘Vikas Se Vijay Ke Ore’ rath had now got a fresh tagline ‘Aaiye Samajwadi Party se Judein’.
