The Special Investigation Team (SIT) will again try to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the death of Karnataka-cadre IAS officer Anurag Tiwari on the basis of details and information extracted from over 25 witnesses in the case.
Anurag Tiwari, 36, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the middle of the road near the state guest house on Meera Bai Marg in Lucknow on May 17.
The Uttar Pradesh government has already recommended a CBI probe into the matter after Tiwari’s kin met chief minister Yogi Adityanath and lodged an FIR of murder at Hazratganj police station on May 22. The SIT is probing the matter till the CBI takes over.
The previous attempt to reconstruct the sequence of events with help of experts from State Forensic Science Laboratory, Mahanagar, was made on Sunday but the officials failed to draw any conclusion out of it.
“Earlier, we did not have enough details about the incident, but now there is crucial information after recording statements of around two dozen people, including the IAS officer’s batchmate Prabhu Narain Singh, who was staying in the State Guest House room with Tiwari at that time,” said a SIT member. He said the details collected from the witnesses would help reconstruct the sequence of events.
SIT members said details about the incident had been collected from police constable Harveer Singh, employees of the guest house, the deceased’s family members and some roadside vendors. Constable Singh was the first to receive a call about a person lying dead (IAS officer) on the road near the State Guest House on May 17.

{{/usCountry}}Soon, statements of the four doctors, who conducted the post-mortem of the deceased, will also be recorded, said a SIT member, adding that the doctors’ panel had mentioned asphyxia, suffocation caused due to lack of oxygen in the body, which led to the IAS officer’s death.
Tiwari and Prabhu Narain Singh had come to Lucknow after attending a mid-career training programme at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie a few days ago.
