In Kashi, ‘Shah Rukh wala paan’ new fad
In keeping with the demand, Tambulam Paan Shop at Nadesar, where the actors enjoyed the Banarasi special ‘gulkand paan’, has introduced ‘Shah Rukh special Banarasi paan’.
Days after popular Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma relished the famous Banarasi ‘paan’ during their visit to Varanasi, ‘Shah Rukh wala paan’ has become the latest fad in the temple town.
In keeping with the demand, Tambulam Paan Shop at Nadesar, where the actors enjoyed the Banarasi special ‘gulkand paan’, has introduced ‘Shah Rukh special Banarasi paan’.
The paan shop has become the talk of the town ever since the two actors, along with film director Imtiyaz Ali, enjoyed the ‘paan’ here on Monday.
Many customers visited the shop and expressed curiosity in knowing the specialty of the ‘paan’ that was served to the Bollywood celebrities.
“I have sold over 30 Shah Rukh special ‘paan’ since noon. It costs Rs 30. We sell plain Banarasi Paan for Rs 6, Baranasi Hara Paan for Rs 15, Banarasi Meetha and Desi Paan for Rs 20 each, Banarasi Gulkand for Rs 30 and Banarasi special Hara Paan for Rs 25,” Satish Verma, owner of the shop, told HT on Wednesday evening.
“I added some special ‘masalas’ (ingredients) to the ‘paan’ that I served to the actor. Khan Sahab was very delighted. He liked its taste and said ‘mazaa aa gaya’ (I enjoyed it). Anushka and Imtiyaaz also appreciated the taste,” he said.

“I am very thankful to Shah Rukh Khan for visiting my shop. He has made my shop famous. Many youngsters came here in the last two days with the query if this was the shop that Shah Rukh visited? When I respond positively, they place an order for Shah Rukh special paan,” Verma said.
“I wish King Khan comes to my shop again whenever he visits Banaras in future. It will be my privilege to serve the special paan to Shah Rukh Khan,” he said.
Customers who tasted Shah Rukh special paan said it was really special.
