Kids getting exposed to aviation and flying technology in Lucknow

The students are not only learning how to fly drones, but are also being told about the engineering part including programming and how to repair the drone if it hits the ground or an obstacle.

This summer vacation, children in age group 6 to16 years are busy giving wings to their dreams at the Janeshwar Mishra Park (JMP). And morning walkers cannot help but stop to see the kids practising how to fly drones.

Nearly 30 children from the country’s best schools including Welham Boys’ School, Dehradun; The Scindia School, Gwalior; Mayo College, Ajmer; The Doon School, Dehradun; Seth MR Jaipuria; La Martiniere College and La Martineire Girls’ College, Lucknow and others are gaining first-hand knowledge on how to fly drones as part of a summer camp.

Utsav Jaiswal, 13, a student of Class 8 in Mayo College said, “I like making new things and making a UAV was always a dream. I’ve even made a motorbike in school. The experience I am getting from this camp is incredible and I am looking forward to learn a lot more.”

The students are not only learning how to fly drones, but are also being told about the engineering part including programming and how to repair the drone if it hits the ground or an obstacle, said Mohsina Mirza, a drone pilot who is training children.

The grand finale of the camp will be held at La Martiniere College (FairyDale Ground), Lucknow on June 15 from 8 am onwards. The event will be graced by deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma and cabinet minister Rita Bahuguna, said Milind Raj, who along with Mohsina is conducting the summer workshop.

Mohsina’s Techno Kids Flying Club and Milind’s InveroTech came up with this innovative camp this summer. Invero Techno Kids Club aims to educate children about robotics, flying robots, futuristic technology and more.

“This is not a routine summer camp. It is a unique platform where children get exposure to aviation and flying technology, the duo said.

“In this camp, children learn everything about making, exploring and repairing flying robots. They are also taught to make their own robots and trained to pilot self-made robots,” said Milind.
