In Moradabad, the attack on Deepak Gupta took place when he was returning home with a friend on a scooter. According to police complaint, the scooter was intercepted by six people on two bikes and one of the bikers open fire. The bullet hit Gupta on his lower back and he was rushed to a private hospital.

The incident took place in Ramtalliya area under Majhola police station of Moradabad.

Police claimed it has identified four people allegedly involved in the incident and launched a manhunt to arrest them. “We have identified Sunny Singh, Satpal Saini and two others,” said assistant superintendent of police (city) Satish Chandra.

The motive behind the attack is still being investigated.

Meanwhile, in Meerut, unidentified youths shot at BJP worker and marketing manager of Apollo Hospital on Tuesday night over a petty dispute.

While injured Vishal Kumar has been admitted to a hospital, police said they are trying to identify the perpetrators of violence through CCTV footage.

SP (city) Maan Singh Chauhan said Vishal had gone to get food packed from a hotel in Begumpul area at around 11 pm when a group of youths also arrived there and ordered the staff to serve them first.

Meanwhile, BJP workers demanded immediate arrest of criminals.
