Two new rail bridges are all set to come up on the Ganga river in the state. The construction of these bridges is part of two rail links to be laid between Dalmau and Fatehpur (31km) and Madhoganj and Kannauj (25km) falling under the North Central Railway (NCR) and Northern Railway (NR) respectively to ensure better connectivity between these places.

Fifteen lakh rupees will be spent on the construction of the bridge between Dalmau and Fatehpur. Another 12.50 lakh rupees will be the cost of construction for the other bridge between Madhoganj and Kannauj.

“The purpose of the project is to give better connectivity to these places and reduce travel time,” said chief public relations officer, NCR, Bijay Kumar.

He said the work will begin after the Railway Board approves the survey report to be prepared by the survey teams of the NCR and the NR under preliminary engineering-cum-traffic survey (PETS) in the next eight months. “These reports include details about the suitable location for the rail lines, geographical condition and revision of cost,” Kumar added.

The officer said after the approval of the survey report, the zonal railways would begin inviting tenders. The construction work is likely to take 4-5 years. “Initially, the proposed rail links will be single and its doubling will take place as per the need,” said the officer.
