Hitting out at BJP leaders targeting the previous governments for prevailing corruption in various departments, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday said Yogi Adityanath must realize that as incumbent chief minister now it is his job to free the state from all malaise.
Addressing Prithviraj Chauhan Swabhiman rally organised by Janvadi Party (socialist) at Cutting Memorial Inter College Ground here, Akhilesh said the chief minister must focus on checking corruption and improving law and order in the state.
“During his recent visit to Benaras, the CM said there is too much corruption in ‘Dial 100’ and the police department. I ask him, who is the chief minister. who will stop this? You are the chief minister. This is your (state government’s) duty to stop it,” Akhilesh said.
Akhilesh said the BJP had claimed that corruption will come to an end after demonetization but poor people are still suffering because of it.
“Over a year has passed; I want to ask whether corruption has ended? Changing the colour of currency notes will not bring corruption to an end,” Akhilesh said while adding, “The currency is never black or white, it is the transaction.”
He said, “Link all of us with Aadhar and count us so that we could come to know our strength. Please do link us with Aadhar but also provide us our rights as per the arrangements made by the constitution.”
Accusing the BJP of dividing the society, Akhilesh said the Central government has tampered with everything, including the taxes and currency notes.
He also mocked the government for announcing to provide Aadhar like identity to cows.
“There will be Aadhar card for cows in the near future. Don’t take it lightly. This is going to happen,” he said.
He also charged the state government with scrapping the Samajwadi Pension scheme under which every poor person was given Rs 500 per month.
Akhilesh promised that all poor people will be linked with Samajwadi pension and every individual will get Rs 1,000 per month, in future, if he comes to power.
He also accused the BJP of making false promises.
“BJP people are expert in making big promises. No one can make promises like they do. Do you remember that Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised to give Rs 15 lakh to each one of us? Fifth general budget was passed recently. Aren’t you still waiting for that money?” said Akhilesh.
“I can also promise to give you Rs 30 lakh, but please don’t ask for its account later,” he mocked.
On Ganga cleaning, Akhilesh said that PM Modi who talked big about environmental conservation at international platforms has failed to ensure the cleaning of the river.
“Unless Kali river of Kannauj is cleaned, desired results for a clean Ganga cannot be achieved,” Akhilesh added.
He said the BJP people were intimidating people through encounters.
He also hit out at the state government over poor law and order and mentioned incidents of dacoities that took place in recent past.
