“The super speciality centre, which would come up in two to three years, would be a five-storey building having 200 beds. The ICCU would have 45 beds,” stated Tandon.

He said union health minister JP Nadda would be in Lucknow on February 20 to sign an MoU with chief minister Yogi Adityanath for super speciality centres at medical colleges in the state.

“The super speciality center would be Rs 200-crore project and 80% of the amount (Rs 160 crore) would be provided by the central government while the remaining would be financed by the state,” he added.

“Our aim is to enhance facilities at government medical colleges and elaborate plans have been drafted for the same. We have deployed senior professors for inspecting medical colleges and institutions and they would submit a report for bringing up such changes,” he claimed.

He informed that soon Amrit pharmacy, a central government PSU, would be reaching out to medical colleges for availability of both generic and branded medicines, which would be available at 50 to 90% discounts, said the minister.
