You may consider yourself a big cat lover, but this couple’s photo shoot with their feline will surely put you to shame.

Lucy Schultz and her partner Steve from Denver, US, took their love for the furry delights to another level by doing a realistic photoshoot to announce the birth of their… umm.. kitten.

From screaming through the “labour pains” to holding the newborn for “breast feeding”, their photographer friend Elizabeth Woods-Darby captured every emotion and every step that human mothers go through during childbirth.

“On 1/10/18 we welcome our first baby kitten, a neutered male DLH,” Schultz, who is herself a wedding photographer, wrote on Facebook.

“He is 22” long and weighed 6 pounds 7 oz. He is already eating solid food. Name to be announced. We are so in love,” she added.

The couple has been together for three years when they decided to add a new member to their small family. And, they eventually found their bundle of joy in SoulDog Rescue in Colorado, US, according to reports.

“I’d been thinking about doing a kitten announcement shoot when I was finally ready to adopt for over a year - I just wanted to celebrate my cat adoption milestone as it’s something I’ve dreamed of and worked hard for,” Schultz said in an email interview with Hindustan Times.

“My best friend Elizabeth (who’s also a photographer & videographer) was so excited about the idea that she jumped into the project, offering her own ideas in the angles of birth photography.”

She says when they finally got down to doing the photoshoot, it was a “blast”.

Awaiting the birth of their new baby

Since being shared on social media, the photos have collected more than 29,000 reactions, 75,000 shares and 41,000 comments.

Many were impressed with the idea calling them “the only kind of baby pictures I like”, while others found it “distasteful, disturbing and creepy.”

“The response has been overhwelming - we never intended to share it with the whole world when we created the photos, but most people have loved it,” she said.

“There are folks who don’t like it or don’t find it funny, and that’s ok - we were never going to please everyone,” she added.
