This weekend sees a series of small-budget films releasing. From Leander Paes' acting debut Rajdhani Express, to Rajiv Khandelwal's Table No. 21, here's a look at the films releasing this week.

The Impossible

Genre: Drama

Director: Juan Antonio Bayona

Cast: Naomi Watts, Ewan McGregor, Tom Holland

Synopsis: Maria, Henry and their three sons begin their winter vacation in Thailand, looking forward to a few days in tropical paradise. But one morning, as the family relaxes around the pool after their Christmas festivities the night before, a terrifying roar rises up from the centre of the earth. An account of a family caught, with tens of thousands of strangers, in the mayhem of one of the worst natural catastrophes of our time.

Dehraadun Diary

Genre: Drama

Director: Milind Ukey

Cast: Adhyayan Suman, Ragini Nandwani and Rati Agnihotri

Synopsis: The film is about unlikely heroes, who fight corruption. Preeti is in love with Anshul. But, Preeti’s family doesn’t approve and in a fit of rage, Preeti’s brother kills Anshul. Having lost their son, Anshul’s parents are soon confronted by the corrupt system. They can’t match with Preeti’s dad’s political powers. However, encouraged by Anshul’s younger brother Akash, the couple resolve to fight till they get justice.

Cast: Jimmy Sheirgill, Leander Paes

Synopsis: Keshav is an errand boy for a gun runner. On one errand, he steals weapons and books a ticket on the Rajdhani Express from Delhi to Mumbai to escape. But, he gets caught on the train by Yadav, DY Commissioner of ATS. While trying to apprehend Keshav, Yadav manages to extract political mileage from the situation, endangering not only Keshav, but also his co-passengers.


Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning

Genre: Action-thriller

Director: John Hyams

Cast: Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, Scott Adkins

Synopsis: John wakes up from a coma to discover his wife and daughter were slaughtered in a brutal home invasion. Haunted by images of the attack, he vows to kill the man responsible, Luc Deveraux. While John tries to piece his reality back together, things get more complicated when he is pursued by a relentless UniSol. As John gets closer to Deveraux, he discovers more about himself and begins to call into question everything he believed to be the truth.


Meri Shadi Karao

Genre: Comedy

Director: Syed Noor

Cast: Gurdeep Mehndi

Synopsis: Kalyan had harboured a secret crush on Preetam, who married

someone else years ago. But, when he comes to know that Preetam is divorced and looking for a good match for her daughter Radhika, he plans to get Radhika married to his brother’s son, Gurdeep.

Director: Jackie Chan

Cast: Jackie Chan, Kwon Sang-woo, Liao Fan, Yao Xing Tong

Synopsis: The film is the third and final part of the Armour of God series that started in 1986. Jackie Chan plays Asian Hawk, a globe-trotting soldier-of-fortune who is hired by shady antiques dealers to track down a set of mystic artifacts — 12 bronze heads of the animals from the Chinese zodiac. The six bronze heads originally formed part of a set of 12, representing the animals of the Chinese Zodiac, forming part of a fountain in the old Summer Palace outside Beijing.

Genre: Thriller

Director: Aditya Datt

Cast: Paresh Rawal, Rajeev Khandelwal, Tena Desae

Synopsis: Vivaan and Siya Agasthi win a trip to Fiji islands. Once there, they encounter Mr. Khan, who offers them R21 crore, provided they play and win the ‘tell all truth’ game. 8 questions, truthful answers and completion of tasks — the rules seem straightforward. Vivaan and Siya take up the offer. The game starts with the couple performing very well. But, questions and tasks get more intense and personal. By the time the couple realise their survival dep-ends on the game, it’s too late.
