A 23-year-old man from Gujarat was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly sending obscene messages, photos, and a porn video to a 15-year-old girl from Mumbai.
The issue came to light after the girl’s father checked her mobile phone and registered a complaint with the MIDC police. According to the police, the two met on a social media platform, where they exchanged numbers and began chatting on the phone.
The man, who studies in a renowned Gujarat university, has been booked under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modest) of the IPC, Section 67A (publishing or transmitting of material containing sexually explicit act in electronic form) of the Information Technology (IT) Act, and Section 12 (sexual harassment of the child) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
He was produced before the Dindoshi sessions court and sent to police custody till October 27.
