26-year-old dead in Sewri bar firing

A 26-year-old man was shot dead by his friend in a bar at Sewri around 10.30 pm on Wednesday at Jai Bhim Nagar.

A 26-year-old man was shot dead by his friend in a bar at Sewri around 10.30 pm on Wednesday at Jai Bhim Nagar.

The victim has been identified as Sushant Dilip Ghodekar, a Godapdev resident. The accused has been identified as Sagar alias KK.

“After drinking for an hour, the two had a heated argument. The accused initially attacked Ghodekar with a knife. In a bid to escape, Ghodekar started running and the accused then shot him thrice with a firearm,” said senior police inspector Sudhir Nagwe from Sewri police station.

Ghodekar was immediately taken to JJ hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Police teams have been formed to nab the accused. They are yet to ascertain the motive for the murder, but sources said the two had fought over cases of extortion.

“The accused and the victim are both history sheeters. They both have cases of extortion and assault registered against them with the Byculla and other police stations,” said a police officer requesting anonymity.
