According to the police, Dharmraj was sitting next to the driver’s seat while Ganesh was seated at the back. The men were travelling in a Chevrolet Beat.

The police said all three are residents of Nalasopara. They drove to Dadar where they drank alcohol and were on their way back home.

Around 4am, they reached Dahisar (East) and were ascending the Rawalpada Bridge on the northbound stretch of the highway at a high speed. Pravesh lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the sidewall of the flyover, the police said.

“We have booked the driver and placed him under arrest,” said Vasant Pingale, senior inspector at the Dahisar police station.

Officials said Dharmraj ran a travel business in Dadar and Pravesh is a driver by profession. Pravesh was booked for rash driving, drink driving and causing death due to negligence under sections of the Indian Penal Code along with relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.
