Kshirsagar, an MLA from Kolhapur, said the minister “misused his office” to accumulate wealth. “Patil and I became legislators in 2009. Even today, we work together, but there is a lot of difference his financial position has changed massively over the years,” Kshirsagar said.

He said Patil was in charge of local polls in Kolhapur district, where the party spent a lot of funds to secure seats in various polls. “Lakhs of rupees were spent on Kolhapur polls. Where did this money come from? There should be a thorough probe by ED,” he said.

Kshirsagar alleged that a Kolhapur-based company, in which Patil was a director till March 2016, made profits after facing losses before 2014. “I have sought the balance sheet of the company. I have a rough idea of the profits it has been making, but I will soon disclose the figures,” Kshirsagar told HT.
