In September last year, a team led by zonal DCP Dyaneshwar Chavan had raided Golden Goose bar and arrested patrons as well as staff members. At the time, Patil had been instructed to ensure there are no more illegal activities in the area.

However, on April 27, the bar was once again raided by Shivdeep Lande, deputy commissioner of police, anti-narcotics cell (ANC). The police arrested 51 people, including customers, the manager, the cashier and staff, and rescued 18 women.

After the raid, an inquiry was initiated which found Patil guilty of negligence.

“It was the senior’s [Patil’s] responsibility to stop the activities which he did not do,” said Chavan.
