The Mumbai crime branch recently arrested a 30-year-old robber involved in more than 20 cases of dacoity and robbery in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai district. The accused, Kishan Mohto, was wanted in robbery case in Karjat, where he, along with his six accomplices, robbed a senior citizen couple at knife point at their bungalow.

Mohto was born the Pila house area in Grant Road, and started pick-pocketing and stealing in south Mumbai, before he shifted to Khapoli in Raigad district around decade ago. He joined a robbery gang in Khapoli, and was involved in several incidents of robbery and dacoity in Nashik and Raigad district. He, along with his gang, also committed several robberies in Andheri, Vile Parle and Navghar, where cases have been registered against them, according to a police officer.
“After the Karjat robbery that occurred in December 2016, we were on a lookout for him, as we had information that he used to visit Grant Road often to meet his friends,” added the officer. As per the information, the officials of unit 2 of the Mumbai crime branch laid a trap at Mumbai Central railway station, and arrested him on Sunday.

{{/usCountry}}Mohto was produced in a court and was granted judicial custody. The Karjat police took Mohto’s custody on Wednesday for inquiry.
