Suburban commuters on the Western Railway (WR), especially those travelling to Dahanu, will now be able to travel more comfortably as the WR had decided to replace all its mainline electric multiple unit (MEMU) trains with the more spacious electric multiple unit (EMU) trains.

The service will commence from September 1, after the WR replaces 14 MEMU trains. This will increase services operated by the WR from 1,305 to 1,319. While most of the newly-introduced EMU trains will ply between Virar to Dahanu Road, a couple of services will be operated on the Churchgate-Dadar route.

Besides, Churchgate- Vasai Road ladies special local (BS 90981) departing from Churchgate at 7.40pm has been extended up to Virar and will reach its destination at 9.06pm. Similarly, Borivli local departing from Mahalaxmi at 5.26am will now leave at 5.12am.
