Father of nine stabs his wife to death in Mumbai, arrested

A 50-year-old man murdered his 45-year-old wife by stabbing her with a knife at their home in Khar (west) on Tuesday. The Khar police have arrested Akhtar Khan.

He allegedly killed his wife Fatima as he suspected she was having an extra-marital affair, said an officer. The couple has nine children.

According to the Khar police, the incident took place in a chawl on Ram Mandir road at 1.30 am.

“Khan came home drunk and fought with Fatima. In a fit of rage, he stabbed her with the knife,” said the officer on condition of anonymity.

Khan fled but was soon found and arrested. He was booked for murder and produced in a magistrate’s court on Wednesday, which remanded him in police custody.
