Incessant rains in Mumbai continued though the noon, making traffic conditions miserable for commuters as waterlogging was reported at multiple places. Mumbai police issued diversions at select places as traffic policemen tried to ease congestion at various points on the ground. But the traffic department of Mumbai police is yet to issue any advisory or diversions.

“South bound #traffic towards Matunga diverted to Wadala due to water logging on EEH (Amar Mahal) SG Barve Rd & VN Purav Rd,” tweeted the official handle of Mumbai police.

The solution appears to be working as the Twitter response is helping commuters. When one commuter, Ravi Kalle, asked for the best route to travel from Worli to Sion Hospital, the police directed him to take the Eastern Freeway. The situation at the Eastern Freeway is normalised as the traffic is moving again.

Meanwhile, the traffic police helpline 8454999999 is also getting calls from motorists.

“Areas including MIDC, Military Road in Marol, Cama Lane in Ghatkopar (East), Kurla bus depot have slow moving traffic due to tree falls,” said Amitesh Kumar, joint commissioner of police, traffic. There is also report of a tree fall near Bhaudaji Lad museum on the northbound stretch which is further affecting traffic.

Officials of the Mumbai traffic police and personnel including wardens are at congested locations to assist motorists in getting to their destinations.
