Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) has bounced back in Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings. The premier institute has been placed at 179th rank, up from its 219th position last year. The year before that it was placed at 202nd rank.
QS world University Rankings, which were released on Thursday, feature 950 of the world’s best universities in the world. The varsities are ranked based on their performance across six parameters, including academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio and international student ratio.
This is the first time in 14 years India has three institutes in the top 200 list, with IIT-B being the new entrant. The premier ranks second in India, behind IIT Delhi at 172nd rank. Indian Institute of Science (IISs) Bangaluru is the third institute at 190th position.
Devang Khakhar, director at IIT-B said, “The improved ranking is a reflection of the continuous improvement of the quality of education and research at IIT-B.”
