In pics: Mumbaiites stretch out together to celebrate International Yoga Day

Mumbai city news: From CM Devendra Fadnavis to Mumbai Police officers, people across the city came out in large numbers to practice yoga.

Yoga is being promoted by the Permanent Mission of India to the UN as a holistic means of promoting mental and physical wellbeing. The ancient practice which originated in India, has followers taking to their mats all over the world. As a nod to this global appeal of yoga, the UN observes June 21 as International Day of Yoga.

Here’s how Mumbai marked the day.

Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with his wife Amurta and actor Jackie Shroff celebrate International Yoga Day with the children of Maharashtra farmers who committed suicide at The National Sports Club Of India (NSCI) in Mumbai.
