The racket was busted after Vruchantala Nizammudin, 36, alias Nizam was detained by immigration officials on September 2 at the Mumbai international airport. During interrogation, he confessed to working for Suresh Prajapati, 36. Prajapati was traced to Ahmedabad with Nizam’s help, and both were arrested. Both have been remanded in custody of Sahar Police till 15.

Investigation revealed that Prajapati was arrested for similar crimes in Hyderabad last year, wherein he took donors to Sri Lanka and harvested their kidneys illegally. He resumed his business after securing bail. Nizam, who helped Prajapati then, was wanted in this case.

The police said more people are involved in this racket and are operating from Cairo. They added that lookout circulars (LOC) have been issued against the suspects at international airports.

The day Nizam was arrested, he had three passports on him. While two belonged to him, including an expired passport, the third one was for the person who was to be sent abroad. Cops are on the lookout for this person. Prajapati had paid Nizam Rs40, 000 for each of the 15 donors.
