Kidney racket: Whistleblower tells cops of 3 more donors from Nagpur

Mahesh Tanna, the whistleblower in the kidney racket, said on Tuesday that he has given the Powai police information about three more donors travelling from Nagpur to Mumbai for organ transplants, but is yet to hear what action the police have taken.

“My workers spotted Bisen’s bag and handed it over to the police. But before we could hand over his two cell phones to the police, one of them rang. The caller, thinking he was speaking to Bisen, said he is coming to Mumbai from Nagpur by train and bringing three donors with him,” said Tanna.

Tanna said Bisen’s bag also contained forged documents, several blank, signed letterheads of Hiranandani hospital, and Rs 30,000 in cash, which the police have seized. “The blank letterheads were signed by a doctor; this clearly shows that the role of the hospital needs to be probed as well,” he said.

The police are scanning Bisen’s call records to find out for how long he and Kamble had been in touch and whether he was also in touch with other employees of the hospital involved in organ transplants.
