The Khar police on Wednesday arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly extorting ₹94, 000 from a 30-year-old homemaker since 2017. The accused had clicked the woman’s intimate pictures with a man whom she was having an extramarital affair with.

“Around nine months ago, the accused followed the woman to a Khar hotel, where she went with her boyfriend. The accused is known to the complainant,” said an officer on the condition of anonymity.
The accused, whose identity cannot be disclosed as he is known to the complainant, spotted a window of the couple’s room from where the activities inside the room were visible.
“The accused waited for the two to get intimate and then clicked their photographs,” the officer added.
“The accused demanded for ₹15,000 from the woman and threatened to make the pictures public, if she failed to pay him. The complainant paid him ₹94,000 until May, 2018,” the officer said.
After the man continued to threaten her and repeatedly kept demanding for more money, the woman approached Khar police station on May 8, after which an FIR was registered under section 384 (punishment for extortion) of the Indian Penal Code.
“The man has been arrested. We have discovered objectionable pictures of the woman in his phone. The data will be used as evidence in court,” he said.
