Mega rail blocks on Mumbai’s western, central lines from Jan 26-28, and on Feb 4

Blocks have been scheduled for construction of foot over-bridges at Elphinstone Road, Parel and Currey Road stations

A month after the Elphinstone Road station stampede, which claimed 23 lives, CM Devendra Fadnavis had announced that the Army would construct FOBs at these three stations.

The Army will be hold mega blocks on January 26, 27 and 28 for construction of a foot overbridge (FOB) at Elphinstone Road. On January 26 and 27, the blocks will be held between 12am and 5am. On January 28, a block will be imposed at Parel between 12 am and 6 am.

The CR also plans to hold a six-hour block on February 4. The block will start at 9.30am and will go on till 3, during which the suburban trains will run only till Dadar.

During the block period, the Army will launch the bridge at Currey Road. The authorities will also carry out the construction of an FOB near Parel.

“Maintenance work, including on railway tracks, overhead equipment and others, will also be taken up,” said a senior CR official.
