After constant demands from passenger associations, the Central Railway has finally decided to stop charging Re1 for the urinals present on station premises. However, commuters are exempt from the fee only at the new urinals, which are still under construction.

The urinal fee will continue to be charged for toilets constructed by contractors. Once their contracts are over, the fee will be scrapped. The CR took this decision during a meeting with Members of Parliament (MP) to discuss passenger issues.

Arvind Sawant, Shiv Sena MP, during the meeting demanded connectivity between the Elphinstone Road foot overbridge (FOB) located at the Churchgate end of the platform and Parel station. Sawant also demanded toilets inside women’s compartments.

“The Churchgate end of the FOB at Elphinstone Road station should connect to the Parel station. This will help the commuters. A skywalk at Currey Road station connecting the east to west is also important, I have demanded the same,” said Arvind Sawant, Shiv Sena MP.
