Parents donate eyes of 9-year-old girl killed in accident

The parents of a nine-year-old girl, who died in an accident on Thursday afternoon, donated her eyes at a Thane civil hospital.

The parents of a nine-year-old girl, who died in an accident on Thursday afternoon, donated her eyes at a civil hospital in Thane.

During the lunch break on Thursday, Gungun Gosawi, a Class 3 student, had stepped out of her school to buy food at Purna village in Bhiwandi. While returning to the school, she was hit by a truck and came under its front wheel.

She was taken to a hospital in Bhiwandi where she was declared dead. The Narpoli police arrested the driver, Ramnath Ramdhari Yadav, 64, a resident of Bhiwandi.

Her the mother, Bhangari Gosawi, said, “We took this step to keep my daughter alive. We have lost our favourite child and she used to take care of her two brothers at such a small age. We were really proud of her. We cannot do anything but miss her. The accused driver must be punished and should not be left after taking a fine.”

“I was told by the hospital staff about eye donation. After discussing it with my husband, we decided to donate our child’s eyes. Nothing can bring back my daughter but her eyes will give vision to somebody and comfort us that she is still around,” said a disconsolate Bhangari.
