Thane to Mumbai via bullet train? You may have to pay Rs250 for a ride

The journey will be covered in 10 minutes

Commuters may have to pay Rs250 for one-way journey from Thane to Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) on board the bullet train, which will be covered in 10 minutes, according to the tentative fare structure of the bullet train prepared by the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) in Maharashtra.

The approximate fare has been prepared according to the current pricing and is 1.5 times higher than the fare of the first class AC local, officials said. Similarly, for a journey from Virar to BKC, commuters will have to pay Rs500 and they will pay Rs750 for a one-way journey from Boisar to BKC.

The tentative fare structure along with a prototype of the bullet train has been displayed at a kiosk at Magnetic Maharashtra conclave inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday. It also states the tentative travel time which will be taken to reach the destination in Maharashtra.

The journey from Virar to BKC will take 24 minutes, compared to road travel of 2 hours, and Boisar to BKC will take 39 minutes, against the road travel of 2 hours and 45 minutes.

The 508-km bullet train project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad will have 12 stations including BKC, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad and Sabarmati.
