A major fire broke out in a 5-storey building on Abdul Rehman Street in south Mumbai around 2.25pm on Friday. Some people are stranded on the upper floors of Firin Manjil, said officials.

Eight fire engines, seven water tankers, an ambulance and one breathing apparatus van were rushed to the spot, said fire officials, adding that the fire is confined to the electrical installation, plastic stock on the 4th floor.
A fire call was escalated to Level 3 or major at 3.50 pm.
This is the second major fire today in south Mumbai. In early hours of Friday, a major fire broke out at the Mangaldas Market on Sheikh Memon Street in south Mumbai. No casualties were reported in the incident.
According to officials, the fire broke out in a godown in the old market area around 6.15 am. The brigade had rushed eight fire engines, seven water tankers and one breathing apparatus van to the spot.
