The board is yet to announce the date for declaring the SSC results but sources said that it was likely to be before June 15.

This is the third year that admission to junior colleges in the city will be conducted online. However, the admissions for minority, in-house and management quota seats will take place offline. Admission for these seats will begin a day after the SSC results and will have to be wrapped up within 10 days, said an official of the education department.

“Once colleges surrender their vacant seats after the offline admissions, we can begin the online admissions process,” the official added.

The department will issue two vocational merit lists and three general merit lists this year, like it did last year. There will be a gap of two days between each of the merit lists for the vocational courses and a gap of three days between each of the remaining general merit lists.

Last year, though the admissions process went off smoothly for most part, it ended in confusion with the government withdrawing the sixth online admission list. At the last minute, junior colleges were asked to accommodate 4,479 students, who had failed to get admission, through an offline process.

“There will not be any offline list this time, we will finish it all online,” said the official.

The admission website (hhtp://fyjc.org.in/mumbai) opened on May 16 for students to begin filling the first part of the application form. Students can submit their forms later.
