After a review meeting of malnutrition deaths in the backward regions of the state, Chavan directed officials to co-ordinate and work on the issues related to malnutrition.

Chavan said the provision of nutritious food, including meat, eggs and protein-rich food should be given at Anganwadis where children come to learn and the state would fund the facility.

He said the group housing project should be immediately taken up in Melghat and Gadchiroli districts.

Chavan also directed to set up mobile units to provide medical aid to affected children in the region.

Dr Rajnikant Arole, who heads the panel to study the malnutrition cases and offer solutions, said that the number of deaths due to malnutrition had come down in the state in the last few years. htc
