High court to view CCTV footage of Kasab, Ismail

The CCTV footage showing Pakistani gunman Ajmal Amir Kasab and his accomplice Abu Ismail committing terror acts at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) and surrounding areas will be screened in the Bombay High Court on Tuesday.

A division bench of justices Ranjana Desai and RV More decided to watch the footage after special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam claimed it provide clinching evidence of the terror acts committed by the pair.

The CCTVs installed inside the station and outside had captured Kasab and Ismail moving around with guns and firing at people. The footage was screened in the trial court earlier.

At CST, the pair had opened fire at people who were waiting in the main hall for long distance trains on November 26, 2008, killing 52 and injuring 108. The duo came out from the rear entrance of CST and later entered Cama and Albless Hospital. Nikam also advanced his arguments showing how the pair took away an AK-47 rifle of slain additional commissioner of police Ashok Kamte, stole a Skoda, and how they were intercepted at Girgaum Chowpatty.

Eight of them landed at Badhwar Park, while remaining two travelled to Oberoi Hotel. Four took a cab to Taj Hotel and later two of them went to Cafe Leopold. Kasab and Ismail took a cab CST and the remaining two went to Nariman House.
