The 10-day celebrations to mark the 60th year of Jehangir Art Gallery will begin on Wednesday, with an auction of 47 paintings by artists including SH Raza, Anjolie Ela Menon, KG Subramanyan, Akbar Padamsee, Krishen Khanna, Reena Kallat, Baiju Parthan and Sudhir Patwardhan.

With staring prices as low as Rs. 1 lakh, funds raised through the auction will go towards modernising the gallery with better lighting and air-conditioning systems, and constructing two new galleries, said Sapna Kar, curator and manager of the auction and the overall celebration plans.
“We hope many Mumbaiites will participate in this auction to support the gallery,” she said.
The celebration will continue till October 27 and will include a live performance by tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain, a fashion show by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee and several free workshops and lectures on art. Log on to www.jehangirartgallery.com
