Girish Shah (55), the manager of Shreeji Jewellers in Seepz, MIDC in Andheri, had given Rajkumar Singh (24) a cheque of Rs 5 lakh and asked him to withdraw the money from State Bank of India. Shah gave his motorcycle.

When he didn’t return, Shah inquired with the bank and found that the amount had been collected hours ago. Shah then approached the police.

“Singh has been working with Shah since a year and has withdrawn cash on four to five occasions. Nobody knows where Singh stays,” said Senior Police Inspector Deepak Bagve.

Police have registered a cheating case and have provided protection to the owner of the shop.
