Mumbai school girl Swapnali Yadav will compete in an open swim contest in a crocodile infested lake in Western Australia, but is confident the event's organisers would have taken the necessary precautions.

Swapnali, the only swimmer from India to participate in the seventh Sri Chinmoy Australian National Capital Swim on November 14 last year, will compete in the inaugural Kimberley National Lake Argyle Swim on April 30, a media release said.

"I am confident of doing well and completing the race. I'm sure the organisers have taken all precautions to protect us from the crocodiles. It will be a real challenge and I am eagerly looking forward to the swim," said the student of Bombay Cambridge School here.

She is being trained by distance swimming coach Raju Palkar, and is a special invitee for the 20-km open swim in the 80km lake in Kununura, Western Australia which is 21 times bigger than the Sydney Harbour and is infested with about 35,000 crocodiles, the release added.
