Mumbai: Half-yearly and yearly railway passes are here

If a second-class monthly season pass between Churchgate and Virar costs Rs.280, for the six-month pass you will have pay Rs.1,540 and for the yearly pass, Rs.3,080.

“The six-month and yearly passes will be in addition to the monthly and quarterly pass and will be available for all categories of passengers, including senior citizens,” a Western Railway spokesperson said.

A senior Central Railway official said the move would help reduce queues at ticket windows. “Commuters too will benefit as with a half yearly pass, they will get 18 days of free journey, and 36 days with a yearly pass.”

The Railways had announced the introduction of these two passes last January, soon after Union railway minister PK Bansal announced a fare hike, which came into effect on January 22.
