A delegation of Muslim leaders on Saturday met Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai and condemned the burning of Quran in the US.
The delegation led by former MLA Suhail Lokhandwala presented the governor a memorandum conveying various concerns of Indian Muslims and expressed deep anguish over the alleged action of burning the Quran by American Pastor Terry Jones on March 20 at a church in Gainesville, a Raj Bhavan release said.
The delegates pointed out that if no action was taken against the Pastor by the American Government, there was possibility of stand-off between Muslims and Christians world wide.
The delegation also condemned the series of attacks on Sufi shrines in Pakistan, including the April 3 strike at Sufi Sakhi sarwar in Dera Gazi Khan district in which 41 people were killed and several others injured.
