Two incidents of road rage were reported in the city in the last 24 hours. A pedestrian was hit with a baseball bat after he tried to halt a brawl between two motorists in Kalina, while a BEST staffer and three others beat up an auto driver in Goregoan (West) for refusing to give way.

In the incident on Thursday at 6.40am, while walking along CST road in Kalina, Santacruz (East), Sanjay Jaiswal, 35, saw an inebriated Indrajit Sawant, 35, beating up another car driver, Hrishi Gandhi, after running into his vehicle from the rear. Sawant hit him with a baseball bat when he intervened.
While Sawant has been arrested and booked for attempted murder, Jaiswal’s condition is critical.
In the other incident, Dheeraj Singh, 25, was beaten up by an off-duty BEST bus driver, Virendra Chouhan, 35, and three accomplices in Goregaon (West) on Wednesday noon when his vehicle came in the way of a BEST bus near Link road.
After Singh refused to budge, the four alighted and started assaulting him. He was taken to Goregaon bus depot in another bus and left there in a semi-conscious state. Chouhan surrendered to the police on Wednesday night; Singh, who suffered eye wounds and fractures on the leg, has been discharged.
